RV Parking Rules in Daly City

The city on San Francisco's border has no RV-specific street ban in its code, and also almost no curb where a rig can sit unbothered. Both halves of that sentence matter.

Read this first: this page is a plain English summary, not legal advice. Ordinances change and posted signs on the street always win. Every rule below names its code section so you can check the source yourself before you rely on it.

What the code actually says

Daly City's parking law lives in Title 10, chapter 10.32 of its municipal code, published in the Daly City Code of Ordinances. We checked the current chapter in October 2026 and found no oversized vehicle or RV-specific street parking prohibition of the kind San Francisco, Berkeley, and Pacifica have enacted. One detail worth knowing: the chapter's commercial preferential parking permit rules state outright that commercial vehicles, for permit purposes, do not include recreational vehicles, so there is no permit shortcut for a visiting rig.

What governs instead is the standard stack: California's 72 hour storage limit, posted signs and street sweeping schedules, residential density that makes a 30 foot rig conspicuous on any block, and immediate proximity to San Francisco, where the two hour cap starts the moment you cross the county line.

What this means for your trip

Treat Daly City as a pass-through, not a base. The legal, restful options within a few miles are SF RV Resort in Pacifica and Candlestick in the city, and our storage guide covers the facilities renters and owners use between trips in this corridor. If you stop in Daly City for supplies or a meal, park like any other vehicle, read the signs, and move on the same day.

Common questions

Does Daly City ban RV street parking?

We found no oversize-specific street parking ban in Daly City's current published code (Title 10, chapter 10.32, checked October 2026). That is not the same as anything goes: the 72 hour state limit, posted signs, and permit zones all still apply.

Can I park an RV in a Daly City permit zone?

Not on a commercial permit. Daly City's commercial preferential parking rules expressly exclude recreational vehicles from the definition of commercial vehicles, so an RV cannot use that permit path.

Why do people ask about Daly City so much?

Geography. Daly City sits on San Francisco's southern border, next to the Cow Palace and the 280 and 101 corridors, and it looks like a loophole on the map. The loophole mostly is not there: it is a dense residential city with enforced street sweeping and very little unsigned curb.
